"Many photographers cared about their camera model, type of lens or the editing software. The lens of the camera is just a tool to help you take a beautiful photo. The most important thing is your mindset and the creativity to think out of box when you are capturing a moment."
Chng Senn has shown a lot of enthusiasm in his photography and videography career when he shared his story with me.
An ordinary boy who had discovered his passion for photography when he borrowed his friend’s camera. His photography journey has started.
“The spark of the passion towards photography began at the age of 16. At the age of 16, I went to Japan, I always love to use my handphone to take a photo along my travel journey. I found out that he loved to capture pretty things or moments. I am not sure that I would take the photography career path at that time, I have a sense that I love to take photos. I always love drawing, visuals and colors since I was young. In my college time, I had projects that involved shooting. It sparks my interest in videography and films. I meet a lot of people during my college, and I started to get a lot of attention from the photos that I took.”, said Chng Senn.
We were talking about perspective in the world of photography. It inspired me to learn from him about the life philosophy that related to multiple perspectives in life.
“Photography taught me to see things in different perspectives.”, said Chng Senn
How do you want to leave a mark in this world before life left you?
“I want to establish a movie production company; I want to shoot film. My biggest wish is to get rewards for my movies. I want to get into Hollywood movie Industry.”
“I want to work for my dream. I believe in my dream, but some of the realistic factors like opportunities, issue of racism in foreign countries, etc, have to consider it.”
Will you give up on this dream?
“No, I won’t.”, Chng Senn said.
From Chng Senn’s story, he taught me about the world of photography and viewing things from different perspectives. The lens of the camera is just a tool to help you to take a beautiful photo. The most important thing is the mindset that you have, and the creativity to think out of the box.
I learned that when one’s found a career that he loves the most, you can feel their enthusiasm towards the things that they love. It also reminded me how important it is to find a career that you love, deep down in your heart. You are willing to put on the time and energy to study, research, and setting small challenges for yourself to get better at your crafts.
You can’t fake having the feeling of enthusiasm, you can’t fake the real happiness and the excitement towards a career. Maybe the wage of your career is high, and you’re feeling the excitement and happiness for it, but I do believe that it will only sustain temporally in the short-term, not in the long run. Of course, you can keep pushing yourself, and you can come out with many reasons to persuade yourself for the sake of enjoying your workday, and the process, but you will get emotionally drained day by day.
Do you want to be this way?
It is vital to choose a long game that you can play passionately while enjoying the ups and downs of the process. You can start late than others, but at least you had discovered your kind of thing.
